Reflection
Hey guys! I thought I would share some of my thoughts on my video since who hasn't got room for improvement you know? Some stuff I learnt while tackling this task I was given would definitely be how to edit and also how no matter how you plan it never goes the way you want... I did about three reshoots for my video, don't get me wrong they weren't terrible but they just didn't seem right. I would never lie to you guys I definitely got stressed out during the actual creation of my video but I worked through it and I couldn't be happier with the Final outcome! I didn't find it hard per say it was relatively easy the pre production, research, editing where all very simple I just got stuck when it came to the actual recording and not because it was hard I was able to set up quite easily but no matter what I just wasn't happy with how the recordings looked. At the end I was quite happy with my results the recordings finally came out how I wanted them too and the music was able to fit on and I was very happy with my animations that I used for the intro and outro! What I do think I could have probably done better on though since like I said we can all improve on stuff in life is my editing skills. Now I was happy with some of the transitions and also the sound recordings plus putting in the background music but I wasn't entirely happy with the green screening. I was able to see my shadows on the wall slightly and also I feel like in some scenes it looked unnatural.
Now as you guys can see a lot of research went into this and I also feel as if I was fairly organised when it came to the final outcome planning. At first I felt as if I was doing alright when it came to making sure its all done on time.... I would even say I was already done with some stuff before it needed to be handed in hence giving me time to work on my intro and outro. Then came the recording, this set me back quite a lot I ended up videoing but not liking it so like I said I ended up doing three more reshoots of this setting me back a bit on the timescale. When it came to this I was lucky enough that half term came into place before having to hand in my video, sure this meant I couldn't record until the week I came back but it did give me a chance to re-look at my plan and come up with a contingency plan. I remember going back and looking through all of my planning thinking on new ideas for example new angles and changing the way I recorded my voice over. The video in a whole I feel like was very well structured I made it clear on what steps come first and what should come last and even added some little gimmicks in there to hopefully make it a bit more entertaining to watch for you guys. I also had the intro and outro to make clear of the start and end of the video what I do think tied the video together. Now the camera work I do believe was in focus I was actually quite proud of how in focus I had got it but once I added the greenscreen I do feel like it messed with the quality of the video but I did try and fix it to the best of my abilities so I hope it doesn't bother you guys to much. When it comes to camera angles though I m very happy with that I feel as if I used a variety of different shots that made it clear on what was happening and when. Onto the audio, I was originally going to do a voice over so I would of basically just pointed at what to do instead of talking while I recorded the video! I ended up using the H1N with a lavalier mic this was so I could time my video perfectly to my actions just because in my first video the script ended up being a lot longer then the actual video. Quality of the audio on the other hand I feel as if was quite good you can clearly hear what I am saying in most parts and I was able to turn the music down in the background so that you could clearly hear me while also enjoying some good beats in the background! The final edit, sure I wouldn't say its at a professional level yet but for m first go I did feel satisfied with my work because at the end of the day there is parts I would go back and adjust but I worked hard and I'm proud of that! Not all the transitions came out as smooth as I would have liked and I do think it was mainly because of the greenscreen background...
If I was given the chance to go back and change certain aspects I defiantly do it! Don't get me wrong I am happy with my work I don't hate it but like I stated to you guys through out my blog, there is always room for improvement. Some of the things I would have went back and improved would have to be my greenscreen, I would just go back and tweak how it looked especially in scenes where I move around a lot and you can see slight green around my hands. I would also maybe go back and change certain transitions so it would be a tad bit smoother... Other than that I am happy with my work! I hope you enjoyed this blog and thank you so much through going on this journey with me! I can't wait to see what else this course has instore for me. So finally....
