Reverb Vs Dry
What you want to look for when recording sound. When trying to achieve great quality accoustics my personal opinion would look for a dry room. If you have read my How Environment Effects Sound blog it will explain all about what a reverb and what's a dry room and what it includes.
Here's a audio clip of a recording in a library this is a example of a dry room. The floor was covered in carpet and there was lots of soft material around where I was recording. If you look back at the last audio clip from How Enviroment Effects Sound you can see the difererence more clearly. Now I want you guys to really listen to the two clips and spot how its different.
One way professionals stop reverb is they would sound proof rooms this is mainly for radio or recording a song. Outside it is harder to sound proof espacially since wind will be your biggest enemy! Although the background sound may not be completely invisible to the naked ear news anchers and interviewers normally use Lapel microphones.
