Primary Research
So for all you guys who don't know what primary research is it's basically when you have conducted research by hand. Examples of this would be taking photos, videos or notes perhaps. Primary research plays a big part in the research as a whole it allows us to come up with original ideas and make a project really our own.
Secondary Research
Hey guys so today I will be talking about what secondary research is and why it factors into research. As you saw I wrote about what primary research was last time well secondary research is the complete opposite of primary. Secondary research is information you have obtained from a already existing resource you may find your secondary research from a website or book or even youtube videos from how the world is evolving today.
Quantitative Research
Qualitative Research
Qualitative research is based on a more personal opinion than quantitative research. This is used to gather a more in depth view. These are normally conducted through interviews and observations.
Market Research
Market research is the way to gather viable information on a new product through the uses of potential customers. This allows the company to deduce their target audience more confidently, later on this also helps to improve the product by having the potential customers feedback or service on the item. This can be conducted by the company but it is also able to be done n homestead. Ways of doing this is getting potential customers to fill out surveys, product testing and also having small groups of people create focus groups on the item at hand.
Audience Research
Audience research can link back to qualitative and quantitative research, this is where you may have your targeted audience view the product and give personal feedback on it have testings on small samples of the product to get a wider opinion. If you back up you will see a quick overview on what qualitative research and quantitative research is.
BARB:
BARB uses data to see the viewing rates for certain commercials and then reports it back to the advertisement team. This is crucial to companies so that they can see the returns rates on their investments.
Production Research
Production research is the next step off of market research, it provides the information on the more desired characteristics. This lets the distributors know what the demographic really wants.
Legal & Ethical Considerations
What companies do have to keep in mind is legal and ethical considerations when selling or designing their product. Legal considerations they should worried about is more of copyright claims and also contractual obligations. while as, ethical considerations would be race,gender,religion,sexuality, representations and general decency.
Regulatory & Professional Bodies
BBFC:
BBFC (British board of film classification) is responsible for the national classification and censorship. This is a non-government funded organisation what was formed in 1912 within the United Kingdom.
ASA:
ASA (Advertising standards authority) is responsible for regulates the advertisements all across the UK. This associates with OFCOM.
OFCOM:
OFCOM (Office of communications) is a government approved regulatory plus competition authority for broadcasting, telecommunications and postal industries of the UK.
