How Environment Effects Sound

23/09/2020

When creating a video one thing people always look for is video quality, aesthetics, lighting but most importantly sound. So much contributes to a good set of acoustic  some of these factors are background noise, setting and equipment. I hope my blog helps you gain a better understanding of just what makes a good sound and how to advance it. Here's a example of a voice recording in a stair well...

You see how it was loud and slightly echoed it is well what we call a echoed is actually a reverb, what cause your reverbs is hard surfaces and no clutter. Reverbs have been he pain of every sound recorder out there since the beginning this is why you have to look out for little things like how much hard surface you have? Is there any clutter? Now one other thing you have to look out for is whether the room is what you call dead or dry. This is the the polar oppisite of a reverb room so it includes soft surfaces. Dead rooms stop the accoustics from bouncing of the walls so that you wont get any of that annoying reverb. So what we have learnt from this is look out for hard or soft surfaces and make sure your enviroment is sound friendly!
