What Is Lighting?

Lighting is a key feature in every photo, it brings the whole image together. There is different types of lighting and that is natural and artificial, artificial lighting is man made light so it isn't natural so it could be made by LED lights for example where natural is the sun's light source.

Now if you where to take a photo outside and lets say its a sunny day it can often ruin the photo since the rays may be hitting the lens on your camera weirdly making the person you want to take a picture off either super pale or just brighten aspects of their face you don't want to be on show. Artificial lighting is something I would definitely recommend due to it being better for majority of photos since your able to control the light distributions. Although there is something you always need to remember with lighting... and that is to use it to your advantage there is so much you can do with the right lighting its just up to you guys. If your a beginner and your reading my blog then my advice would be to practice the basics first you don't need a fancy expensive camera as much as you probably think you do... Just grab your phone go outside and just start experimenting use natural and artificial lighting go crazy and have fun! 

Examples of what lighting can do here is a experimental photo I took of a friend, you see where his face is shadowed on his left side well that's because in any studio or film set there is three basic lighting set ups. Key light, Filler light and last but not least Back light, I will go into what these are more in my next blog so stay tuned! This photo was taken with only the key light on so this left shadows fill in the areas the filler and back light normally brighten up.
